There were scenes of excitement and celebration at Kesteven and Grantham Girls' School today as students collected their A-level results and prepared to take the next steps in their education, training and careers.

The Class of 2026 has much to celebrate, with students securing places at leading universities, higher apprenticeships and a wide range of professional pathways. Their achievements reflect not only academic success, but also the determination, resilience and ambition they have demonstrated throughout their time at KGGS.

Naomi Williams will study Medicine at Cambridge University after achieving three A*s, while Lola Kenny will study Engineering at Cambridge after achieving three A*s. They are among five KGGS students who have secured places at Cambridge University.

Sammi Zheng will study Chemistry at the University of Oxford after achieving three A*s and is one of two KGGS students who have secured places at Oxford University.

Alice Szokalska has secured a place on a highly competitive degree apprenticeship with Deloitte. Elsie Gallon will study Business Management and Marketing at the University of Liverpool after achieving one A* and two As. Chiara Nel will study Law at the University of Exeter after achieving three A*s, while Tabitha Reeves will study Musical Theatre at Laine Theatre Arts after achieving two A*s and one A.

Their achievements are a source of great pride and demonstrate the breadth of talent within this year's cohort, with 43% of all grades achieved at A* or A.

We have watched these young people grow into confident, capable and ambitious individuals, ready to make their mark on the world. Whether they are progressing to university, beginning apprenticeships or pursuing other exciting opportunities, we are proud of all they have achieved and grateful for the positive contribution they have made to our school community. We wish them every success and happiness for the future."

Dear parents, we are delighted to launch the KGGS Netball dress which we would like players in Years 9-13 to wear for fixtures. Year 7 and 8 students will play in their PE kit for fixtures until later on in the season when their team is established.

 

If your daughter regularly played in the school team last year and intends on playing again this year, parents may wish to purchase a dress for students to own. These can be bought from our new school uniform supplier: Cool Cats Clothing for £25.

 

We will have a small supply of Netball dresses to loan to students if they are unsure of their place in the team and understandably parents do not wish to purchase a dress because of this.  Please note that ownership of a dress does not automatically guarantee a permanent place in the team.

Before Christmas KGGS PE department was fortunate to secure sponsorship from Clegg for a new set of Netball dresses which the U14 Netball team wore at the Regional Netball competition last weekend. We would like to thank Oliver Jenkins and David Green from Clegg for their generous sponsorship of our netball dresses. Thanks to Clegg, our players now have a new set of high-quality dresses that not only boost their confidence on the court but also help to create a sense of unity within the team.

We are delighted to announce an excellent set of results for our students in their A level examinations this summer. The students have worked incredibly hard, demonstrating a high level of tenacity and ability to achieve well in their courses, with the majority of students securing a place on their chosen pathway.   

Headteacher James Fuller commented:

“We are incredibly proud of our students’ achievements. They have worked tirelessly to ensure they achieve the qualifications needed to allow them to progress on to further education, study and employment. On behalf of our school community, I wish to congratulate each of them and look forward to hearing about their future success.”

The overall A level pass rate was 99%, with 35% of grades being awarded at A*-A and 68% between A*-B.  26 students gained at least 3 A grades.

83% of students gained a place at their first choice of University.

In July 2023 44 staff and 5 staff travelled to South Africa on the long awaited KGGS Netball and Football Tour. Students stayed at four different locations, took part in some charity work, played four fixtures against local schools, went surfing and ziplining just to mention a few of the activities. One of the highlights of the tour was going to watch England vs Australia live in the World Cup at Cape Town on the final day before flying home. Students have since raised over £100 at their Halloween bake sale to buy four olive trees to be planted at Goedgedacht Olive Peace Grove which is a charity who help impoverished rural communities.

Whilst on tour, we stayed at the Trust and saw the amazing work they did to help support local families and enable students to receive an education and lift themselves out of poverty.

The next PE trips are to Porto at Easter 2024 to play Football followed by Butlins Netball Tour in July 2024.
