Being Concious of our Neighbours - The school has received a small number of complaints in recent weeks regarding parents blocking driveways when either dropping off or collecting their daughters. A small number of parents have been regularly parking on private property in Stonemasons Court which is just off St Catherines Road. Please be sensitive to our neighbours who are generally very tolerant of our activity during term time.
Work continues on our new Art and Drama block. Take a look at our progress.
Kesteven and Grantham Girls' School is a selective academy that has offered girls a distinctive ethos of educational achievement for over a century.
The school opened in 1910 on the present extensive and attractive site overlooking the town of Grantham. The original fine buildings have been refurbished and, together with new buildings, additions and modifications made over the years, provide excellent accommodation and facilities for today's students.
In 2003, the school was the first in Lincolnshire to be designated a Science Specialist school. In 2007, we were recognised as a high performing specialist school and awarded a second specialism in Languages. The school offers a broad range of subjects and has high expectations for all students, who achieve excellent examination results.
Celebrated as Outstanding in 2011, Ofsted recognised that the school “produces successful, mature and confident young women who are well equipped to succeed in the next stages of their education and lives.” (Ofsted Inspection Report, 2011).
In recent years the school has gained a reputation for consistently performing at the highest level.
Admission is based upon the Lincolnshire Grammar Schools' 11+ procedure and most of our students remain beyond 16, entering the Sixth Form to follow AS and A2 level courses before proceeding to higher education.
In addition to its enviable record of academic, sporting, musical and artistic achievement, Kesteven and Grantham Girls' School has a well-established tradition of service to the local and wider community. It numbers amongst its former students, Britain's first woman Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher (nee Roberts), who was Head Girl in 1943.
